4 Mindshifts During This Lockdown to Keep You in Sanity
The extended lockdown period... is it taking a toll on your mental health?
Are you yearning to step out of lockdown to fulfill your desires?
Is the pain of world outside transiting into your suffering?
Do you struggle to utilize the Me time you never got before?
Do you foresee uncertainties, leading to dilemmas, on the other side of pandemics?
If any of these is happening with you during the Corona outbreak, your mind is turning into a theatre of psychological dramas.
High time mate! You better stop engaging with your thoughts.
Let’s understand what’s cooking
A hell lot is happening around you, infact the whole world is suffering.
Like too much to take!
And amidst all these, the viral pictures of grief, remorse, sorrow, helplessness, are everywhere, in social media and news channels, making worse for the mind to sail smoothly with this life transition.
The normal routine... regular thinking patterns... all disrupted!
Nothing is motivating, nothing seems inspiring about the world right now.
To add final nail to the coffin, this extended lockdown period!
What all of it is resulting to?
Overflowing thoughts... conspiring against each other, causing severe damage to your sanity.
I was hit hard by lows during this quarantine.
And as I always do, I consciously chose to explore the dark.
I walked out in a better headspace!
A few mindshifts pulled me out from the slumps of my mind.
I am happy sharing these as my suggestions; hope you find them useful.
4 Mindshifts for a better headspace
A mere acceptance of your pain
Human race is mourning to bereavement,
Eyes around reflect deep down fears,
Destitution struck so hard the poor are starving to death,
Economies gravely affected; savings vaporizing than never,
Future looks ambiguous... the other side under dilemmas,
Like everything brought to a standstill!
Difficult time this... as there is only pain to attract from the outside world.
You never stood here before, and your mind is clueless about the way out.
The result: A chaotic mind that produces anxiety.
But my dear friend... you need to realize:
Not only you, your family, your city, or your country...
It’s the entire world that’s unsettled right now.
So what you are going through is fine. It’s the current normal!
Yes you need to accept this right now...
Better said... you might wonder:
How should I gracefully accept this change?
Just acknowledge you are not battling alone.
It's not only about you this time... we are in this together!
This offers you strength to stand in solidarity, as we people are kind of sharing identical pain.
It brings the acceptance you need!
Trust me... Acceptance of pain is that reliever that never allows your pain turn into suffering.
Consciously experience the biggest blessing — You are Alive!
You are blessed to be alive, sitting at home, comfortable with your family, away from the virus, getting enough luxuries for a healthy living.
You got to feel grateful for this!
You are fortunate than millions suffering in this pandemic. Please don't let that feeling of gratitude die in your sub-consciousness.
If I ask you:
Did you experience the fear of being asymptomatic to Covid-19 at any point?
I think many of us would admit:
Yes... I felt that... just for a little... but I did!
If...
How to Revive From State Where Feelings Turned Negative?
Do you only feel negative during this lockdown?
With pain and helplessness all around,
With your self-identity forced to switch roles,
With a jolted normal for unpredictably long,
The thought pop ups cannot be exciting.
Infact most of them are negative...
Relax... that's human! And it's not only your story.
This is the first time we fall on the same page.
But maybe... this lockdown... most of us went all too far.
Let's Address the Problem
Fear... Dilemmas... Uncertainties... Anxiety... You are thinking too much about the future.
Overflowing thoughts drive you everywhere you don't want to reach.
Now that lays the foundation of a quandary.
Because when this unconscious flow of thoughts continues, it leads to mental diarrhea, which soon attacks your emotions.
Ahh... now that hurts!
With thoughts already conflicting, this lockdown came up with another challenge...
Managing emotions... a bigger task than managing mind.
Do you know what's the result of mismanaged thoughts and emotions?
Your crude feelings turn negative!!
Once your feelings turn negative, no matter how hard you try, you cannot feel happy.
And that's what is happening to most of us.... sitting at homes... having nothing to do.
Bodies are locked down, but minds still wandering.
Painful state this... densely negative!
The good news:
We can get out of here.
Let's talk about the revival now!
How to Revive From State Where Feelings Turned Negative?
Arrange a session You with Yourself where you are disconnected from the outside world.
No people, no cell phones, no distraction whatsoever...
Start with a minimum of 30 min session whenever you get Time.
Time... not a difficult thing to find during this lockdown... isn’t it?
I agree some of my friends would get offended about that.
And that's because there are many samaritans who volunteered to step out of their houses to serve people and nation in anyways.
And there are also individuals who could not afford Me time as they were, and still are busy with their household chores.
But I must say, sacrifice that 30 min of sleep even if you have to, but during this lockdown, everyone needs that session, that session of self-introspection.
So what do you do in that session?
Do nothing different! Quitely get back to basics...
Remind yourself that everything started with your mind... overflowing with negative thoughts... for an extended period.
And that's what touched the depth of feelings.
So to revive your positive feelings, you need to get back to your thoughts.
Go for it! Just sit comfortably, preferably with closed eyes, and observe your thoughts coming and leaving. Don't pay attention to any. Allow them to pass by.
Stop participating.... stop involving with any thought... even the ones you call positive.
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. —
Buddha
Why do you stop paying attention to positive thoughts?
You might be wondering:
No attention to negative thoughts... sounds logical!
But why should I stop paying attention to positive thoughts?
Because that's a ploy.
That's deliberate from the mind to convince you to interact with thoughts.
So that you hook to it... and finally get carried away by the flow of it.
It's a mind's...
Lockdown Tales: How About An Interaction With The Expressive Nature
According to Collins dictionary, Nature is all the animals, plants, and other things in the world that are not made by people, and all the events and processes that are not caused by people.
(I'll be denoting Nature by They, Them, Their... Just cannot confine nature into a box of It.)
Let’s meet Nature
Nature is super-expressive! Since ages, they are trying hard to express:
Pain during ruthless slaughtering,
Misery in feeding pollutants,
Suffering after a sudden human attack,
Yes that’s what nature had to share. Because that’s what we... the most intelligent creatures on this planet... had been offering to them... in our own filthy ways.
Cruel We ... who didn’t bother listening to nature shouts in pain inflicted by us.
We could not sense those tears; We had no feelings for them in our consciousness.
We murdered them for our luxuries; burnt them for money.
We went unconscious of their existence, unaware that our existence is superficial without the creator — Nature!
You might wonder:
Why am I told this?
Why am I forced to realize all of it?
Well the whole purpose of saying this is:
If that’s the ugly past you want to forget, guess what... you got this opportunity!
It’s time you can break that equation, and start afresh chemistry with nature.
Because nature just forgot ages of brutality by us during this pandemic.
Nature revived without long-due revenge!
Nature resurrected!
Nature is back to the old school smiles!
So time to get back to the present and embrace this undeserved opportunity.
It’s important we connect with nature now... when they are all smiles!
Never was a better time we could feel free from this guilt... the guilt of causing so much harm to them.
It’s time we feel happy with them, for them!
Just to remind you, nature was never helpless.
If they would take long-due revenge, the entire human race could be sacrificed.
That’s how much damage we did to them.
But guess what... nothing as such happened...
And nature we never met... sounds familiar!
Call it luck, fate, destiny, anything, but make sure you accept this as a blessing!
That human lockdown led to nature's independence!
Indirectly adding more generations to the human race.
All mediums of pollution are at rest. And the:
fresh air,
clear skies,
whirling trees,
gushing winds,
chirping birds,
they are all back.
It’s a huge offering from nature who was hit brutally hard by us.
So come on mate… We always complained about limited time. We were unconscious of their cries then.
But about now...during this lockdown...
Let us not miss this... to listen to nature expressing joy!
Well if you are wondering...
How do I interact with nature?
Let me remind you there’s an unconscious breath transaction always on between you are the greens outside.
Oxygen... Carbon dioxide... Oxygen... Carbon dioxide... lifetime transaction... till your last breath!
And now let me ask you:
The fact that life is lifeless without breath, and breath connects humans to nature,
Is this not enough to create an involvement?
I feel... Acknowledging this simple fact has enough reasons to develop a beautiful bond with the creator — Nature!
If you could feel this mind shift, you could experience life over mental and emotional barriers.
Your ego goes for a toss, as you...

How to get over self judgments stopping to accept the real you?
Do you often engage with self-sabotaging thoughts?
Do you feel a pang of unusual guilt during most of your life proceedings?
Is feeling unworthy killing you from inside?
Is fear of embarrassments squeezing your natural emotions?
If any of this is customary with you, you often press the button of self-judgments.
Which phase is this?
The hard times when you find more reasons to self-criticize, less to appreciate yourself.
Those scary nights when you either accuse yourself of all the wrong happening with people... or you blame people for all the bad in your life.
The times when you want to stay alone, but could not find peace even in retreat. In fact, it sinks you deeper.
Around all this, you could only suffer like a victim or feel lonely.
I’m sure you are dying to get out of the rut!
But before looking for an exit route, let me ask you:
Have you ever met yourself wherever you are... wearing your own shoes?
What I’m curious about is:
You ever stayed with your shallow self in his slumps?
Did you ever treat yourself like your best friend seeking advice?
Or you just cannot take the self-beating, and you walk away ignorant, without facing yourself in the mirror of self-awareness?
What’s stopping to meet the real you?
Most likely your mind is overthinking ━ about people, situations... all in the outside world.
The more you think, the more you judge them.
And those judgments in the outside world are leading to judgments inside.
That’s dangerous!!
In those mind games, you rarely meet the real you.
You just cripple... lost to the outside world.
Everyone else controls your emotions, not you.
You won't deny:
Even if you encounter yourself in this phase, it’s a subconscious encounter, mostly soaked in negative self-talk.
Everything during this time just shallows your existence, pushing you well within your unexplored boundaries.
Wondering how to surpass this?
Your revival setups with a small conscious self encounter
Try a simple exercise:
Give yourself that me time when you actually step into your own shoes to feel yourself.
That zone where there is no one else... not even your mind, not your body.
It’s just you talking to your soul!
Remember the motive of this session is to feel light about yourself.
Wait... before you start, you need to know:
You just cannot jump right into your character and start feeling the depth of your soul straightway.
I feel there is always a medium to reach there until you are that conscious.
Well that medium could be your way of reaching out to yourself.
It could be anything which rests you here, in the now, where you are detached outside and connected inside.
Playing a sport or Connecting to music,
Reading or by Writing,
Meditating or by Yoga,
Singing or by Dancing,
Feeling blessed or Just by being yourself,
That’s simply your choice!!
Let’s do that...
Arrange a small session You with Yourself every day at a fixed time.
No one around, just you attending yourself.
No thoughts landing anywhere...just sail with flowing time!
The session where you try to be good to yourself like you try to be with people.
No matter how:
deep your insecurities,
bad you are hurt,
hard you are hit,
down you are under...
Make sure you host yourself with...
Boring life? 4 super effective ways to break the monotony
What defines your monotonous life? My boredom? Our generation’s boring monotony?
A haunting tradition following since the X generation!
It’s a pre-defined conventional journey — starts with a super-active child at home, an exuberant kid in school, an adventurous youth in college, and then?
As soon as you enter the late twenties and early thirties, don’t you feel:We are puppets dancing off-beat to the tune of a monotonous life?
You won’t disagree more or less we share a common story.
We’ll talk a little about every phase starting teenage. The time before that does not qualify for scrutiny. We were happy souls then.
The tender teenage is the age when most of us are on an exploring spree.
It’s the most exciting phase when most of us are introduced to new experiences. The thrills of hormonal attraction, the adventure of bunking classes, the excitement of a new cellphone, fear of failures, sadness inflicting loss, and whatnot…
Life events are not customary and that’s the best part of this time. Every moment awaits to capture a new experience.
Moving to the next phase is the dawn of adulthood (the twenty-one's) when most of us go through a full range of overwhelming emotions, and gradually we prioritize and move forward with our choices and responses.
But what next?
Don’t you realize life stagnates thereafter?
Yes… the majority of us stand at the doorstep of a monotonous life.
‘That’s because we turn into:spouses and parents in personal livesan employee or an employer in a professional careera mere reputation in the social environmentTill over and out.’
Please keep reading even if you haven’t reached this state, you are closer than you think!
That’s because soon a customary routine takes over to define our life’s monotonous process until we final gasp.
Most have compromised with it. But you don’t belong there, the reason you are here.
Allow me to offer:
4 super effective ways to break the monotony of everyday life:
Twist the thought process
When you program your mind into a routine existence; your mind becomes a jailor and your soul a prisoner. Your life isn’t a beautiful exploration journey anymore.
I may sound silly if I ask you:
Do you wait for the holidays?
Everyone does! Most of us work our asses off the entire week to enjoy on weekends.
But does that mean you are eligible for happiness only on weekends?
I don’t know much but I am sure about this:
We cannot assign a particular date, time, and place for happiness.
My friend; even happiness seems monotonous this way.
What I feel we need this break every day. Any small conscious mind break is capable to break your routine existence.
Listening to music, exercising, or maybe a long drive — any such monotony breaker not involving your mind is capable to rejuvenate your soul.
And when you do that, you realize happiness does not involve the mind, it’s an essence of the soul.
Did you know?
Not only feeling happiness, but a mind rest daily can also raise its potency drastically. Here is a summary of recent research and thinking on the value of taking breaks.
Start it now or else your holiday break remains a random...
Do you answer nature’s call the wrong way?
According to Dictionary.com, call of nature is 'a need to urinate or defecate.'
I confuse how to perceive this definition; unsure whether to laugh or feel dejected. Because as far as I know, pee and poop are biological processes, not natural.
Wondering how nature is calling?
The sound of ocean waves, the chirping birds, the gentle winds... every sound of nature is an unheard voice seeking your attention to tell beautiful stories.
Nature is calling you loud but I seriously doubt your receptivity to those calls.
Why can't you hear the voice of nature?
There's a thick wall between you and the natural environment- the wall constructed by your social environment. Yes, you are sensing the people's noise so deep you are not able to hear the nature’s voice.
And not only the pleasant voices but many soulful cries of nature get lost in the woods.
Nature calls you in two scenarios:
When nature smiles
The word ‘natural’ is deeply connected to the word ‘nature’. But the irony is your natural state tells a different story.
Yes, happiness is your natural state but I don't think you even realize how incomplete you are.
Nature is all smiles, full of life, appreciating its unmatched beauty and singing melodies. Nature just wants you to calmly listen to it.
Unfortunately, it's a big ask for most of us.
My dear friend, nature is fully capable of conversion of your alone time into solitude.
But the problem is you don’t have the patience to sit-back and sense the essence of nature. Your sense organs are pre-occupied sensing negativity and so the chord of positivity is untouched.
The second scenario when nature calls you...
2. When nature cries
Nature is crying loud, the cries getting louder every day. And when you don’t listen, it expresses out.
Unable to take nature's wrath, you call it cruel!
Drought, flood, earthquake, volcano eruption, landslide... you call it a natural calamity. But I see nature expressing its unheard feelings.
Ruthlessly cutting trees is not only shrinking the green but also destroying the habitat of millions of species.
Still can't hear those cries?
A couple of dreadful observations:
The loss recorded by Global Forest Watch was 29.4m hectares in 2017, the second highest recorded since the monitoring began in 2001.
Around 80 percent of the world’s plants and animals live in forests. You are killing them all, unaware it’s your grave you are digging.
Some rays of beautiful sunshine:
Amidst these lethal killings, some people express their nature love in their own peculiar way.
According to True Activist, Piplantri village in Rajasthan, India plants 111 trees every time a girl is born. Isn’t that beautiful?
According to The Guardian, Madhav Subrmanian is the next generation's face of conservation, a 12-year-old Indian boy who goes round Mumbai collecting money for tiger conservation.
Your contribution holds a big significance too. Explore your way to love nature, but until you find one, start with the preservation of a single natural resource- Water.
Sounds easy? Absolutely!
Let me tell you the execution is even easier.
With a minimum of effort, just close the tap leaking unused water.
Let this be a small initiation to take bigger measures to save nature.
Although two-thirds of the...
12 Reasons to Push the Boundaries of Your Comfort Zone
First, let us understand the meaning of comfort zone...
Comfort zone is a luxury created by your mind which is repulsive to a change. It is because when a change occurs, something different from the usual takes place, giving way to something new. So you can say that the ‘change’ is directly proportional to the ‘new’.
And here we arrive at a straightforward definition...
Your comfort zone is the barrier which restricts the new to enter your world.
Let us recall a few instances testing the boundaries of your comfort zone...
1. The most common one... leaving the bed in the morning... sleep comforts you and getting out of it is difficult. The choice is yours... you want to get up and exercise, meditate, leave for work, kick-start your day... or you want to snooze the alarm and stay within the boundaries of your comfort zone.
2. You are working in a bank in your hometown. You are offered a raise and promotion in the same bank outside your hometown. It is your call to settle with the comfort boundaries of your hometown or explore the new by opting to go out.
3. Someone meets with an accident in front of you. He needs help, and he is seeking help. Whether you will be compassionate enough to break the boundaries of your comfort zone... your call.
4. Your Air Conditioner is on in summers. But one hot summer night, your A.C is not working and spend the entire night without it. This is an example where there is no other option but to accept the change. Whether or not you accept the change gracefully is the real test of your comfort zone.
5. You are not well versed in speaking English. You are invited to a formal function where people mostly converse in English. It is your call to take that as an opportunity by backing up with a positive attitude or you could surrender to your comfort zone by not attending it.
6. You travel by air but unfortunately, the flight ticket is not available but reaching that place is crucial. And so travel by train. Again an instance where your comfort zone is tested. Always remember, not only traveling by train but traveling by train happily is the real test of your comfort zone.
7. An afternoon nap is a part of your daily routine. But if anyone from your personal or professional atmosphere wants to meet you during that time, it will test your comfort zone.
8. You need to reach your destination but you don’t know the route directions. You may go there self-drive challenging the situation or you can hire a cab surrendering to the situation.
What happens when you don’t allow the new to enter your world?
Everyone enjoys their comfort zone and wants to stay inside it. But change is inevitable. Change is something you cannot change. So when the boundary of your comfort zone is pre-defined, it restricts you from accepting the change gracefully. As a result, you never experience the new.
When you don’t taste the new, I am...
Express yourself to flush out the negativity
Allow me to begin with a small composition of mine:
Speak
Speak speak... you speak
SPEAK WITH AUTHORITY, SPEAK WITH CLARITY... make sure you get heard when you speak
Irrespective of the language YOU SPEAK... as long as you have a voice, you speak
don’t wary the criticisms and the questions ... as long as you are right, you speak
Don’t worry about losing them, FOR THE SAKE OF FINDING YOURSELF, you speak.
To spit out the negativity, for the sake of positivity... gather courage only once to speak
on their face and never behind, as long as they are wrong, you speak
FOR THE SAKE YOUR RESPECT AND ESTEEM... SPEAK SPEAK SPEAK... YOU SPEAK
Hope you liked it!
Let's jump right into the nitty-gritty of expressing:
Expressing is an introduction of your true self to the outside world. Whatever you are inside, just exhibit it outside.
What you are and whatever you feel, just express yourself. Never feel afraid of it.
Always remember:
“You were born to be real, not to be perfect.” - Claire Baker
And this applies to everyone. When you have the freedom of expression, use it to your advantage.
You are probably wondering:
Why is expressing important?
Expressing is your deliberate attempt to convert the negativity felt into positivity.
In the world full of lies and betrayals, it is difficult to stop feeling negative. But you need to understand that feeling negative is not a problem.
The problem arises when you keep that negativity within you and do not express it out.
But when you express out, you unburden yourself and flush out the negativity.
To maintain transparency between your physical and mental appearance.
In case you don't know:
There are two facets of your appearance- physical and mental.
Expressing acts as a mirror between the two. It ensures that whatever you feel from inside, you present it outside.
This way, you are true to yourself and to others. There is no retention of negative feelings inside you to attract other negative energies.
You always ride high on yourself via expressing.
When you express your true self to others, it means you value your ideas, thoughts, and beliefs. No wonder, expressing is one of the best ways to develop self-love.
The quote above says it all...
When you express, you expose yourself in front of others. You reveal your true identity to them.
In the process, people might get hurt. Many people might not like you. They can call you rude, offensive and aggressive. They might misunderstand you.
However, the ones who deserve to be in your life will understand you gradually. They will accept you the way you are.
No wonder, these people will be less. But they will be the ones whom you will find by your side every time you need them.
It's your identity, this is the way you always are, independent of the person, time and situation. Feel proud!
Look:
Being nude is always better than being naked.
Sounds silly? It's not:
Being nude is your choice.
It is when you uncover yourself by yourself. It‘s your discretion to expose yourself to others. It is the transparency you...
What is the difference between ‘Loser attitude and Nothing to lose attitude’?
Before evaluating the differences, let's find out the similarity between both the attitude.
Did you notice that both the attitude have four consecutive letters in common-'LOSE'?
You know what does it mean?
It means that both the attitude(loser/nothing to lose) are provoked by a loss.
Now, there are two possible conditions involving a loss.
You are on the verge of losing.
You have already lost.
Subsequently, when you encounter any of the above-mentioned situations, it provokes either a 'nothing to lose' attitude or you develop a 'loser attitude'.
An example involving sports where you are on the verge of losing...
Two players are playing a game of squash inside two different courts. The game is of 5 sets. Both the players lose the first two sets. Obviously, the recovery seems extremely difficult hereon.
Now, let us try to compare and analyze their respective attitude where one develops a loser attitude while the other develops a nothing to lose attitude.
The one with the ‘loser attitude:’
After losing the first two sets out of five, the person with a negative mindset starts considering himself as a loser even before the result of the game. It evokes fear inside him and he begins saying to himself that he cannot win from this particular game-situation. Eventually, he surrenders to a situation and showcases a ‘loser attitude’ in the subsequent game-set. This attitude fails to deliver miserably, no need to mention the outcome.
The one with the ‘nothing to lose attitude.’
A person with a positive frame of mind sees things differently. After losing the first two sets, he sets himself free. Even he starts considering himself as a loser but with a different mindset. As soon as he accepts his loss, he starts seeing it as a different ball game altogether. It evokes a fearless attitude within him as he is already considering himself as a loser. He starts feeling that he cannot go down anymore and plays the rest of the game carefree and stress-free. Trust me, most of the times he is able to turn the tables around from nowhere, and an evident lose turns out to be a surprising victory.
Let us consider a monetary example where the loss has already occurred:
Two businessmen suffered a huge financial loss in their respective trades.
The one with a loser attitude:
The person with the loser attitude starts feeling embarrassed and ashamed. He is not able to sink that loss inside his mind. As a result, it never lets him overcome that loss or defeat. That fear of losing refrains him from starting again. As a result, he always considers himself a loser.
The one with a nothing to lose attitude:
There is the other businessman who considers it as an opportunity, the opportunity to start from scratch, where he cannot go down beyond it. This attitude allows him to realize his mistakes so that he never repeats it again.
Time for some Happy Realizations!!!
Friends, we all lose on something at some point in time. But what makes us a loser or winner depends...
